A cat burglar has gotten its paws on the Walter Cup and no one is sure where it is. The PWHL's trophy disappeared in transit to Lethbridge, Alberta where Dara Greig was to have her day with the Cup. Those plans were cancelled when the case containing the Cup was opened and it was found the Cup was not inside, and no one seems to know where it went.
Unlike the Stanley Cup, a new version of the Walter Cup is made each season and gifted to the winning team. The original Walter Cup is brought out only for the on-ice presentation and otherwise resides at the Hockey Hall of Fame, and it is confirmed to be there. This version that has gone missing is the one that permanently belongs to the Montreal Victoire.
So who took it and why? I invite your wildest possible speculation. Was it aliens? I feel like it was probably aliens. I'm thinking the Tholians discovered the Cup can resonate at a certain quantum temporal frequency to be a catalyst to open a portal to another dimension.
In other news, a name resurfaces that will join the Leafs' ECHL affiliate, but only on an ECHL contract. Burmistrov has some claim to fame for being one of the few remaining active hockey players drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers. Evander Kane and Zach Bogosian are the other two.
Here's a weird one..

Remember this name?
34-year-old forward Alexander Burmistrov, the 8th overall pick from the 2010 NHL Draft, is signing an ECHL contract with Cincinnati @CincyCyclones - returning to North America after playing the last eight years in KHL.@InsideAHLHockey
Maybe if he's good he'll get offered an AHL contract and play for the Marlies? We'll see where this goes, but I can't imagine after all this time away there's some reason he really wants to live in Cincinnati. Maybe he really likes Cincinnati Chili? Come up here to Toronto, Alex. I know how to make an actually good pasta casserole.

And another name we know may be making a move.
Breaking: I'm told that barring the unexpected the new voice of the @MapleLeafs on radio will be Marlies voice @ToddCrocker who will join Jim Ralph on the radio this season... More in coming days
