Timothy Liljegren is on the final Team Sweden roster for the World Junior Championship

Sweden made their final cuts and named their leadership group today.

Team Sweden announced the final cuts to their roster today. Leaving the team is defender Filip Westerlund and forwards Lucas Elvenes, David Gustafsson, and Jacob Olofsson.

This means Timothy Liljegren joins a very exciting group of blueliners to play in Buffalo in a few days. All eyes will be on the top-ranked 2018 draft prospect Rasmus Dahlin — all eyes but ours, of course. We should expect to see Liljegren paired up with a more defensive-minded partner and to get some power play time, but he is not the top man in the group.

Liljegren is, however, one of only two right-shooting defenders with Westerlund cut. The other is Gustav Lindström. Sweden is used to a glut of lefites at the junior team level, but Liljegren’s handedness might help him grab a decent amount of playing time.

The final roster is as follows:

Goalies

1 GK Larsson Filip Tri-City Storm USA 17.08.98 Stockholm
