The NHL preseason officially begins this week. Here’s what you need to know about who is doing what and where they’re doing it:

Monday, September 9: Today is the last day of round-robin games at Traverse City. The Leafs prospects play the Red Wings in the final game at 6 p.m., so we’ll know the seeding order for the finals only when that game is over.

Tuesday, September 10: The playoffs at Traverse City begin at noon with the two fourth-place teams in each division playing off for sixth and seventh place. The fifth-place game is at 12:30 p.m., the third-place is at 3:30 p.m., and the final to declare the champion is at 5 p.m.

Wednesday, September 11: There’s nothing much going on this day. The Traverse City players have to fly back, and everyone else is preparing to fly to St. John’s. This would be a good day for Mitch Marner to sign his contract.

Thursday, September 12: The Leafs, Marlies, Growlers and anyone else they’ve invited along depart for St. John’s for training camp.

Friday, September 13: Training camp begins with the first practice in Paradise, Newfoundland at 10:30 a.m. (local time, which is 1.5 hrs earlier in Toronto). Open practices continue through Sunday. See the linked site for details on how to get (free) tickets.

Sunday, September 15: Deadline for the NHLPA to opt out of the CBA. The Community BBQ takes place at Leafs training camp, and the Growlers new alternate jerseys recognizing the St. John’s Maple Leafs will be officially unveiled. The Alumni Game is Sunday evening in St. John’s.
