Sweden announced its Men’s and Women’s Olympic rosters this week, and they’ve got this one neat trick to push the teams over the edge: teenagers on defence.

The women’s roster announced a few days ago includes phenom Maja Nylén-Persson who turned 17 in November and just finished winning a silver medal in the women’s U18 (their WJC).

The men’s roster announced today includes phenom Rasmus Dahlin, who turns 18 this spring and just finished winning a silver medal in the men’s WJC.

They liked the idea so much, they did it twice.

The rest of the Swedish roster is as follows:

Goaltenders

Jhonas Enroth
Viktor Fasth
Magnus Hellberg

Defenders

Staffan Kronwall
Mikael Wikstrand
Patrik Hersley
Johan Fransson
Simon Bertilsson
Rasmus Dahlin
Erik Gustafsson
Jonas Ahnelöv

Forwards

Joakim Lindström
Fredrik Pettersson
Pär Lindholm
Dennis Everberg
Joel Lundqvist
Alexander Bergström
Viktor Stålberg
Dick Axelsson
Oscar Möller
Carl Klingberg
Anton Lander
Linus Omark

There are two more forwards to be announced.

So with the same number of  more ex-Leafs than Team Canada, this makes them better, right?
