Earlier this afternoon, news broke that the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to open their 2019/20 pre-season training camp in St. John’s, Newfoundland, as well as holding at least one pre-season game against the Ottawa Senators.

Here are the details:

While we have actual details about this now, it has been something that was unofficially known since this year’s pre-season when Mike Babcock let it slip. This seems to be part of MLSE’s ongoing efforts to really promote the Newfoundland Growlers, Toronto’s new ECHL team don’t you know!

This would be the second time that the Leafs have held part of their pre-season training camp and exhibition games in St. John’s, the last happening in 2001. If you don’t remember that, there’s a good reason...

Beyond that, the Leafs have had a pretty long historical connection with the city, having based their AHL team — the St John’s Maple Leafs — there from 1991 to 2005, before they moved to Toronto and became the Marlies.

If you want more information, you can find it in the Leafs’ official tweet announcing the news here:

All of this really leaves me with one big question...

Which Leafs’ player is most likely to get Screeched-In?
