Tomas Plekanec picks a fine time to score his first goal as a Maple Leaf

But is he playing so well right now because of his goatee? Really?

In Game Four of the first round Boston-Toronto playoff series, the Bruins, absent Patrice Bergeron, scored first, with the newly minted Riley Nash - Brad Marchand - David Pastrnak line on the ice against Tomas Plekanec, Mitch Marner and Patrick Marleau.

Minutes later Plekanec righted that wrong with his first Leafs goal:

But is the key to Plekanec’s success his regrown goatee as suggested by Craig Simpson on HNIC? He’s worn it for years and had to shave it off for the few games between the trade deadline and the playoffs. Is that really possible that his bald face was holding him back?
