Game day thread: Maple Leafs open the pre-season vs Ottawa

IT’S A GAME DAY!

Sure it’s a pre-season game but it’s still a Maple Leafs game! John Tavares plays as a Maple Leaf for the first time! We’re live in Lucan, Ontario for tonight’s pre-season game and at a capacity of 1,600 people, the Lucan Community Centre is one of the smallest venues the Leafs have played yet still too big for the Senators to sell out.

It’s the battle of the back-ups as Curtis McElhinney and Garret Sparks share the net. McE played exceptionally well for a back up last season, but Garret Sparks’ award winning AHL season can’t be ignored. With it being a pre-season game they should split the load at about 30 minutes each.
