*Josh Anderson is still listed on IR.

Adam Clendening, who has played most of the last three seasons in the AHL, is a bit of a surprise as a depth defender choice. He has only ever played 4 regular season and seven playoff games for the Blue Jackets, and isn’t there for his points.

Matiss Kivlenieks, their number three goalie, has six total NHL appearances, all this year, making him more experienced than the Leafs’ two extras, but not more highly rated. He’s had an average season in the AHL this year.

The number of defenders can be explained by the long list of injuries they’ve suffered this year on the defence side of the roster. There is some question if Ryan Murray is really fully healthy.

Prior to training camp, Seth Jones, Alex Texier, and Dean Kukan all came off of IR. Cam Atkinson was activated on March 12, just in time to sit out for months. And Ryan Murray came back to the roster on February 29.

Liam Foudy is their least experienced forward, having spent most of the season in London with the Knights, except for two games he played as an emergency callup to the Blue Jackets. He had 28 goals and 40 assists in the OHL, and is 20, making him both older and less hyped than Nick Robertson.

The Leafs roster was officially announced today, and is exactly as reported yesterday:
