We ranked six players this week because of a tie at spot 20. There were also two ties in the below 25 votes, and there are two more tied pairs to come as we roar up the list to the surprise first-place finisher.

Official Vote

#22 Nicholas Moldenhauer

With a weighted average vote of 22.4, Moldenhauer was a tiny bit above last week's Alexander Plesovskikh.

2025 T25U25: Nicholas Moldenhauer is #22
Moldenhauer has had two rough seasons to start his NCAA career, and his rankings have chilled

#20 Semyon Der-Arguchintsev and Sam McCue

Both had a weighted average of 21.6, and it's worth considering that McCue, who many compared to Plesovskikh is only one ranking point above him. At the bottom of the list from 20 on down to 32, the official voters had a consensus group of players they all ranked differently, leading to average rankings that are nearly tied – or are precisely as in this case.

2025 T25U25: Sam McCue is tied at #20
Shooters shoot, and McCue scored a lot in his D+1.
2025 T25U25: Semyon Der-Arguchintsev is tied at #20
He’s a dramatically different player to the one who got identical votes

#19 Harry Nansi

With a weighted average of 19.2, the youngest prospect in the Leafs system takes the first jump up the rankings. He's 2.4 ranking points higher than the tied players in 20th place.

2025 T25U25: Harry Nansi is #19
This prospect might just be the proverbial diamond in the rough

#18 Cade Webber

Webber comes in barely higher than Nansi, and two more different players are hard to find on this list. He had an average of 18.8.

2025 T25U25: Cade Webber is #18
Toronto’s most Ent-like prospect had exactly the kind of year on the Marlies that you would expect.

#17 William Villeneuve

Villeneuve is in this group of three players all with an average of 18.2. They all had a high vote of 10, and a low of 22 - 25. Everyone went unranked by one or two voters.

2025 T25U25: William Villeneuve is #17
The top ranked Marlies defender...by default

Next week there's another small jump up to another group of three before the biggest leap on the list into the top 13.

And now for the next set from your votes.

Community Vote

#22 Vyacheslav Peksa

Coming in at a weighted average ranking of 20.94, Peksa is a half a point higher than Borya Valis at 23. It's pretty common for goalies to mark a big move up. It's also common for them to be ranked much higher by the community. Peksa was 35th on the official vote and received only one ranking at 24.

A consensus vote, but not a strong one.

#21 John Prokop

Ranked at the bottom of the official list, Prokop was nearly tied with Peksa, with an average of 20.86.

No consensus here at all.

#20 Tyler Hopkins

Newly drafted Hopkins comes in with an average of 20.83, essentially tied with Prokop.

His vote comes from a three-way split consensus. This is maybe the most complex voting chart I've ever seen since we started doing them a few years back.

#19 Ryan Tverberg

With an average of 19.78, Tverberg is a full ranking point above the pair below him.

That's a very "he's a guy I know" vote pattern.

#18 Roni Hirvonen

Unranked on the Offical Vote, as was Tverberg, Hirvonen came in at 19.48, essentially tied with Tverberg.

Note the low y-axis. This is a vote very like Semyon Der-Arguchintsev.

#17 Topi Niemelä

And maintaining the tradition of this pair of players ranked together with Hirvonen always second (even though he came first in the draft), Niemelä had an average of 18.85 which is a meaningful amount higher.

That's a lot of believers.

One thing to note is that number 17 on the Official Vote was ranked 18.2, and the Community Vote is behind at 18.85. That's a sign that the Official Vote grouped the tiers a little differently, and the Community Vote sees everyone from (as we'll see next week) 16 on down as a fairly evenly distributed mass, rarely ranked above 15. The Official Vote drew a line under Nansi at 19 and made a firm distinction at that point. So far, the Official Vote has not unanimously ranked anyone which is also partly why everyone's average is similar, but we'll see that happen next week.

See you then.
