Preseason is two fewer games this year than in the past, and I'm still bored after only three. But the Leafs play the Habs – more likely the real thing – in Montréal on Saturday, and then there's a bit of a break before the final two games.
Lots of time for more injuries! Last night, William Nylander left the game after conking his head on a player's leg as he fell.
Tavares says the report the players got on Nylander was positive, but agreed it was smart to take him out for precaution. Berube to comment soon.

"He'll be OK. He's fine. Nothing to worry about."
Kitchener, Ont.'s Steven Lorentz on his Leafs pre-season debut in Toronto:

"Special. It’s an understatement. I tried to take it all in from the moment I got here ... It’s pre-season & you got basically a sold-out crowd. You’re looking around, like, it’s just so cool."
Tavares: "My leg was getting pretty stiff from the hit I took in the 1st. It wasn’t so bad afterwards, but throughout the 2nd & especially the 3rd, it just got really, really stiff ... I told Craig I would just keep them [shifts] short, but he [gave] me the rest of the night off" https://t.co/QyDYfP6Yg2

A hit along the boards landed mostly on Tavares's leg earlier in the game.

In other, kinda weird news:

That's it for a preseason Friday, everyone have a good day.
