GRITTY!

GRITTY IS HERE!

We didn’t know we needed him, but now we just can’t live without him.

The Philadelphia Flyers introduced a new mascot yesterday and it’s everything in my life right now (sorry kids).

It’s a big orange....thing. And it’s the new hotness in Philly mascots.

Now, Gritty is no Calrton the Bear, let’s make this clear. In the mascot hierarchy Calrton is on top because he is both lovable:

And a tough no-nonsense bad influence:

Gritty falls into the ‘creature’ category which is entertaining for adults to laugh at but terrifying to children. It’s a step above Edmonton Oilers mascot Hunter, which is terrifying to all.

So thank you Flyers, for giving us the joy we’ve found in Gritty.

Here’s your (non-gritty) news:

Okay, seriously here’s the news:

Erik Karlsson was never going to be a Maple Leaf - Centre of Leafs Nation

Calgary Flames, San Jose Sharks and Washington Capitals All Release A Third Jersey - LWOS

Ron Hextall has really complicated the Philadelphia Flyers goalie situation - Broad Street Hockey
The Flyers have themselves a goalie problem, and it’s their own fault.

Erik Karlsson Trade Reveals Much About Dallas Playoff Aspirations - Defending Big D
The Dallas Stars did not get their man. Instead, Erik Karlsson is San Jose bound. Despite the obvious disappointment of losing out on a marquee player, the failure of a Dallas-Ottawa deal to come together is a valuable learning opportunity. Who the Stars were and were not willing to include tells us a great deal about the roster, and how the 2018-2019 season might go.

Brian Gionta retires after 16 seasons in the NHL - Die By The Blade
Former Sabres captain Brian Gionta announced his retirement today and will take a small role in the organization

Golden Knights sign Shea Theodore to 7-year deal - Knights On Ice
The wait is over, as Vegas gets its young defenseman locked up before the regular season.

Luca Sbisa Gets Contract from Islanders - Lighthouse Hockey
Again, according to script

This is a huge year for Jake Guentzel - PensBurgh
Guentzel’s third NHL season has major implications.

Enjoy your day!
