FTB: The back half of summer is here for the Maple Leafs

It’s August and the players are having some fun.

The Civic Holiday is over and it’s now officially the second half of summer. It’s that time where kids sit around saying “I can’t believe summer is already half over,” while their parents sit around saying “I can’t believe summer is only half over.”

Our Maple Leafs are still enjoying the off-season. Auston Matthews in particular appears to be having lots of fun.

Now to spoil the second half of your summer with a reminder: there is less than four weeks until the NHL must decide whether or not to activate the opt-out clause in the CBA, changing its end date from the summer of 2022 to the summer of 2020. Expect talk about this to pick up significantly from the major hockey media personalities in the next week, or as rumours begin to circulate “from a Western Conference Owner” about what is going on behind the scenes.
