The Maple Leafs will bring preseason to a close tonight in Toronto in a final game against the Red Wings after defeating them in a shootout last night in Detroit.

There will be a big round of cuts to the roster soon, perhaps as early as today, to get the salary cap dollars down to a compliant level as required by Tuesday. UPDATE: The cuts have begun

We’ll have a preview of tonight’s game out later this morning. In the meantime, watch Matt Read quietly making a case to get a contract.

Should he be signed? Listen to him make his case and vote below in the poll.

Meh. If he’s willing to play for the pay the Leafs can offer, I guess, but I don’t really care either way.
