Did you know that Toronto Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas has a long connection to the OHL Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds?
Anyway, in other news, last night the Maple Leafs traded for former Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds goaltender Jack Campbell to help with the absence of Frederik Andersen.
With Andersen suffering from a “neck injury”, the Maple Leafs decided they couldn’t rely on Michael Hutchinson alone - and after last night’s game maybe at all?
Right after the game words started leaking out that the Leafs and Los Angeles Kings were in the middle of making a deal for one of LA’s goalies. Thankfully it wasn’t Jonathan Quick who isn’t living up to the standard set by the Kings Twitter account:
To clarify, that's 10 years after next year -- so 11 years in total of our goaltender being better than yours.— LA Kings (@LAKings) June 28, 2012
It was Jack Campbell, who isn’t having a great season either but costs a lot less and is for sure better than Kasimir Kaskisuo, so the current pairing just got an upgrade.
Also coming along is Kyle Clifford who isn’t a high scoring threat, but brings in some of the grittier type of play people have said the Leafs are missing after the Nazem Kadri trade.
What a night we had last night!
Now, the news.
Centre of Leafs Nation goes over some of Leafs Nation’s angry ramblings.
Yahoo! Sports with a demand for action...right before there’s action.
Should the Sabres make drastic changes? As always I say, yes.
The coach speaks post-game.
Anyway, none of you are reading this, you’re jsut yelling about the trade in the comments, so have at it!
