Jean-Sebastien Giguere vs Cam Ward

Tonight sees a battle of former Conn Smythe winners in Giguere and Ward. I have to imagine Carolina feels more comfortable with their guy:

GP MIN W L EGA GA GAA SA SV SV% SO
2010 - Cam Ward 62 3590 29 23 157 2.62 1992 1835 .921 3

Than we do with ours:

GP MIN W L EGA GA GAA SA SV SV% SO
2010 - Jean-Sebastien Giguere 31 1556 11 10 75 2.89 741 666 .899 0

Cam Ward's having a nice little season and it's probably easy to understand that having a goalie play 62 games at .921 will give you a hell of a chance to win games. We've gotten 22 games of .918 from James Reimer and are ready to rename the province after him.

Nazem Kadri and Matt Lashoff join the Leafs today. Per Jonas Siegel it seems Kadri is happy he slipped out of the spotlight a little bit:

"I’m going to be honest," said Kadri of the hushed two and a half months with the Marlies, "not having everyone on your back just so constantly it was a bit of change, but it was pretty nice. It kind of let me do my own thing and focus on what I had to. Don’t get me wrong, I think I’m ready to handle all that pressure, but maybe I just needed a little time."

Lashoff and Kadri are here to play on the power play in all likelihood. The first two weeks of our Death March are gone and while they weren't mindblowing there were hardly the worst two weeks of the season for this Leafs team. Let's hope they keep playing well; this is a team worth watching and it's been hard to say that about the Leafs in March for a long time.
