Today the Maple Leafs put Steven Lorentz on waivers. They have telegraphed in preseason that they see the fourth line as centred by Teddy Blueger with Brandon Duhaime and, well, that's a good question, who else?

Dakota Joshua has been practicing, but not playing, and newcomer Zack MacEwen has been making some small waves in preseason. One or both of the two might be rotating in.

In reality though, Lorentz lost the battle to Duhaime who is a very similar level of player with some extra flash and sizzle.

If Lorentz clears waivers, there is no requirement he be sent down. He can stay on the Leafs roster for 29 days or 9 NHL games played before he requires waivers again. If Joshua goes on IR, or if Nick Paul is not well enough to play by next week, he may not go anywhere.
