Them

With three forwards and one defender who have played for the Leafs on Ottawa’s roster, we know how this game should go. Along with top pick Tim Stützle and Zach Sanford, who the Sens got to inch closer to the salary floor, that’s the full list of the players I’ve heard of. Preseason is well underway:

Us

The Leafs are countering with a roster of mostly prospects and new players to the team:

The competition is on to see if Alex Kerfoot or Ondřej Kaše is the best NHL player on the Leafs.

The Game

This is going to be quite the game, but really, I’m just thrilled it’s not Montréal. There are opportunities all over the place for players to make themselves noticed.

  • Michael Amadio wants to be the first name the Leafs think up for a call-up
  • Adam Brooks would like to be the 21st man, and not get cut
  • Kurtis Gabriel wants to be good in the Leafs locker room, not with the Marlies
  • Nikita Gusev wants a contract — anywhere, not necessarily with the Leafs, maybe the Sens want a forward
  • Josh Ho-Sang agrees
  • David Kämpf wants a goal that counts
  • Nick Robertson wants everyone to believe like he believes
  • Kirill Semyonov wants to stay out of the box
  • Wayne Simmonds wants a bonus for babysitting
  • Alex Biega wants to be the seventh defender
  • Carl Dahlström would like to erase the memory of his last performance
  • Travis Dermott wants to play 82 games
  • Filip Král wants to prove he wasn’t a mistaken signing after a very bad Traverse City
  • Rasmus Sandin wants to be more than the fifth defender
  • William Villeneuve wants to get in a game before he gets cut to junior, but it looks like he won’t
  • And Timothy Liljegren wants to keep your dreams alive just a little longer/

The lack of depth in net is showing up with Petr Mrázek playing another game so soon — assuming the game doesn’t just go to Hutchinson.
