Them

The standings never lie, Montréal is a near perfect team.

They are excellent at Corsi at five-on-five so far this year, but in both offence and defence, they give away a lot of quality.

Clearly that's a perfect formula.

They have a very bad power play and they score on it even worse, which is how perfect teams go about things.

They have an average PK overall, and allow an average number of goals. This is the way – don't sweat the special teams.

In all-situations their goaltending has only been average.

Okay, it is a little interesting that the sanctified greatest team ever to play hockey with the bestest coach ever is producing results 180 degrees from last year, and is also the inverse Leafs, and yet the song hasn't changed about how inherently great they are.

The other interesting thing is that we are actually early enough in the season that the five-on-five xG% they sport is over 51% and they are ranked 16th. So there are more teams over 50 than under. I blame the Canucks for this.

Jake will be in net for them. Fowler has been very good, Dobes very bad, which is how they arrived at their averageness in that respect.

Us

John Tavares returns and will play on the wing, as worked on in practice this week.

The reason the Leafs cleared up some roster space by waiving Bo Groulx was provided today when they recalled Artur Akhtyamov to backup this weekend. Anthony Stolarz gets his hometown team tomorrow night.
