Good morning Toronto Maple Leafs fans!

I was sitting on the couch wondering what to talk about this morning when the Carolina Hurricanes gifted me a three way trade.

Hurricanes acquire Rantanen from Avalanche in blockbuster three-team trade
The Hurricanes are loading up. Carolina acquired star right winger Mikko Rantanen from the Colorado Avalanche in a three-team trade, the clubs announced on Friday night.

Big names are on the move. The full trade is:

Carolina Hurricanes acquire: Taylor Hall, Mikko Rantanen
Colorado Avalanche acquire: Martin Nečas, Jack Drury
Chicago Acquires: 2025 3rd round pick, 50% of Rantanen's salary

The Hurricanes are mixing up their forward group with a big, Stanley Cup winning name with Rantanen, and a veteran in Taylor Hall.

The Avalanche get a younger forward with Nečas and a player for the future in Drury.

Chicago is there.

So a big, big deal coming ahead of the four nations cup, and well ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline has me wondering if this will kick off more moves. Chicago has no playoff hopes, and has two more retention spots if they want to build up a war chest of trade pieces at this years draft to make a move on the playoffs next season.

Moving on to our Maple Leafs, they're in Ottawa tonight to take on the Senators in an arena full of blue and white jerseys cheering them on.

Game time is 7PM on CBC, preview will be up later on.

With trade talk going on, what do the Leafs need to do?

Utah HC has been denied multiple trademarks for their identity next season. Many are talking about 'Yeti' but I was really hoping for the Mammoth. If only to have a giant two person Snuffleupagus style mascot costume.
