I have, myself, full confidence that if the Leafs do their duty, if no defensive assignment is neglected, and if the best breakouts are made, as they are being made, the Leafs shall prove themselves once again able to defend their home rink, to skate out into the storm of playoffs, and to outlive the menace of the Bruins, if necessary for years, if necessary alone. At any rate, that is what they are going to try to do.

That is the resolve of His Loufather’s Management — every man of them. That is the will of MLSE and Leafs Nation. The Leafs Nation and the Anti-Bruins Republic, linked together in our cause and in our need, will cheer to the death their native sport, aiding each other like good comrades to the utmost of their strength.

Even though large tracts of the NHL and many old and famous teams have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Good Hockey Men and all the odious apparatus of the Bruin’s Model, we shall not flag or fail.

We shall cheer on to the end, we shall cheer in Maple Leaf Square, we shall cheer on the interwebs and radiowaves, we shall cheer with growing confidence and growing strength in the Leafs, we shall defend our team, whatever the cost may be, we shall cheer on the beaches, we shall cheer on the landing grounds, we shall cheer in the fields and in the streets, we shall cheer in the hills; we shall never stop cheering, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, Leafs Nation or a large part of it were defeated and shamed, then our fanbase beyond the seas, witty and loyal to the Blue and White, would carry on the struggle, until, in Matthews’ good time, the New Leafs Order, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old insecure fans who have been burned time and time again!
