We didn’t know we needed him, but now we just can’t live without him.

The Philadelphia Flyers introduced a new mascot yesterday and it’s everything in my life right now (sorry kids).

It’s a big orange....thing. And it’s the new hotness in Philly mascots.

Now, Gritty is no Calrton the Bear, let’s make this clear. In the mascot hierarchy Calrton is on top because he is both lovable:

And a tough no-nonsense bad influence:

Gritty falls into the ‘creature’ category which is entertaining for adults to laugh at but terrifying to children. It’s a step above Edmonton Oilers mascot Hunter, which is terrifying to all.

So thank you Flyers, for giving us the joy we’ve found in Gritty.

Here’s your (non-gritty) news:

The Flyers are getting Gritty

Who the Stars were and were not willing to include tells us a great deal about the roster, and how the 2018-2019 season might go.
