After last night’s 5-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks, the Toronto Maple Leafs are waking up to some bad news:
Not liking what I’m hearing on Wayne Simmonds. Could be six weeks...just brutal, was having such a strong season in return home.

Wayne Simmonds got hit in the hand with a clearing attempt from Canucks defender Alexander Edler late in the game:

The six weeks guess from Friedman above could indicate a broken hand from the puck. Which is a shame as Simmonds was having a great night last night with two goals, the Leafs first and last of the night, and a season where he’s quickly becoming one of the stars on this years team.

With today being an off-day for the Maple Leafs, an official announcement could be put off until Monday, but with the speculation around the injury we can most likely say that Simmonds can be added to the growing list of injured Maple Leafs from this season:
- Nick Robertson - Out on January 14th, knee injury
- Joe Thornton - Out on January 20th, broken rib
- Jack Campbell - Out on January 24th, leg injury/
We will update when official word comes down from the Maple Leafs.
