As the season approaches the NHL teams are working on their final rosters and that means players are going on waivers and clearing for the AHL or being claimed by others.

Yesterday the Maple Leafs placed Nic Petan on waivers (he cleared, but Christian Djoos was claimed by Detroit and Gustav Forsling was claimed by Florida) and today it’s goaltender Michael Hutchinson's turn.

Hutch was signed as a fourth string goalie, behind Frederik Anderson, Jack Campbell, and Aaron Dell, so it’s no surprise he's been placed on the waiver wire.

He is not on the roster for tonight's Blue vs White game, so there's no expectation he'll be on the taxi squad either. Speculation when he was signed was for him and Joseph Woll to tend net for the Marlies, and provide extra goaltending relief if two of the other three are out of commission.

With goaltending depth a hot commodity this season, there's a chance he could be gone from Toronto tomorrow morning.
