This morning the Toronto Marlies announced that they re-signed Scott Pooley on a one-year AHL deal.

Pooley has been part of the organization for his entire professional career. He signed with the Marlies at the end of his NCAA career in 2017/18. He has bounced between the Marlies and Growlers every year since then — 41 games in the AHL, 77 in the ECHL.

With the Growlers he was one of their best forwards, scoring at an almost goal per game pace with 16 in only 17 games this year. He had 31 goals in 60 games the season before, and was the team’s first player to top 20 goals.

That performance earned him more time with the Marlies this season, as he played more games in the AHL than in the ECHL. In his 30 games with the Marlies he had eight goals and added four assists. He’s still a long-shot to make the Toronto Maple Leafs, but it’s nice to see a guy work his way up. He’ll have a chance to be a bigger part of the Marlies when hockey finally returns.
