Immediately punted into the pantheon of hockey names in Toronto, Gordie Green and Bobby McMann have been signed as college free agents to two-year AHL contracts with the Toronto Marlies.
Gordie Green completed his fourth year with Miami University (Ohio) as their captain. The right winger solidly fits into the Kyle Dubas mold of small, talented, and gutsy. The 23-year-old American had 14 goals and 36 points in 34 games in his final season, completing his NCAA career with 48 goals and 115 points in 145 games.
For comparison, Leafs success story Trevor Moore played three seasons at the University of Denver, scoring 47 goals and 120 points in 121 games throughout his career, tracking similarly with the production of Green.
Green played one game for the U.S. National U17 Team, a roster that included Leafs legends Auston Matthews and Jeremy Bracco.
Green was named to the All-NCHC Second Team, making him one of the top six forwards in the division.
Green was at the Carolina Hurricanes Development Camp in 2018. They put together a nice isolation video of one of his shifts.
Here is Green’s 100th career point, a goal.

Bobby McMann was also a fourth-year captain of his NCAA team, Colgate University. The 23-year-old Canadian centre led the team in scoring with 10 goals and 20 points in 34 games as his team finished with a sub-500 record in 2019-20. His best season was in 2018, scoring 14 goals and 30 points in 40 games in a .500 team.
McMann was at both the Buffalo Sabres and Columbus blue Jackets Development Camps in 2017 after his rookie season in the NCAA. We actually have video of him coming through the neutral zone and feeding the lesser Nylander a pass at the Sabres camp. He also attended Calgary Flames camp in 2018.

Here is a highlight pack of McMann with some of his best goals.
