Canada won the bronze at the WJC yesterday and Sweden took the gold, leaving the worst medal in the hands of the Czechs.
Bronze is the colour of those weird faux-leather uniform designs that are popular right now for things like the outdoor game which Florida lost comprehensively. And now here they are, all mad, and two whole points ahead of the Leafs. More on that later.
In other news, the saga of Yegor Zamula heats up today as Pittsburgh, bizarrely, traded for him – albeit with a guy they clearly don't have a use for – and now are terminating his contract. At 2 pm today, the bidding war to get a cheap NHL-ready defender begins. Zamula is no a star, not a top-pairing guy, but he likely is Troy Stecher, give or take.
In sad news yesterday, Bob Pulford, a winner for four Cups with the Leafs, died at age 89.

David Branch, once synonymous with the OHL, died at age 77, barely into his retirement from the league.

And now the injury report:
William Nylander is now on IR, but can be activated whenever he is ready to play. He is day-to-day and unlikely to play tonight.
Jake McCabe is not playing, and is day-to-day with an LBI, but is not expected to miss much more than a week.
Anthony Stolarz continues recovery with on-ice work and has no expected return date yet.
Brandon Carlo may play today as he recovers from an infection requiring surgery on his foot. The Leafs did recall Marshall Rifai.
Dakota Joshua is said to have a lacerated kidney but was on the ice doing work outside of practice. The recovery time from this injury – which did not require surgery – varies greatly depending on the severity of the injury.
Chris Tanev is due to have more medical consultation this week and may require surgery for the groin injury he recently suffered. He is on a long-term timeline to return.
Dakota Mermis in unknown in terms of timeline with an LBI. Not within the next week seems to be about all you can say for sure.
We will get the Canadian Women's Olympic team roster on Friday of this week. In the meantime, the Sceptres play tonight ahead of a multi-day break.

And that's all for today so far.
