I never get tired of watching Phil Kessel, god among men, working his magic in the Leafs jersey. Last night's overtime-winning goal against the Colorado Avalanche, when Tyson Barrie was eating his dust as he shot one through Semyon Varlamov's five-hole, was exactly the kind of show that we have come to expect from Phillip Kessel. When he has the puck, there's a sense that we're going to see something special.

For being the best thing to happen to the Leafs in a long time, Kessel has been the recipient of an unreasonable amount of hate. Apparently he's too lazy, too boring, too awkward, too streaky, too lackadaisical in practice, "only" scores goals, and my favourite, he's definitely much too fat for hockey. The fact that he is one of the fastest players in the game and has been one of the most consistent scorers in the past few years doesn't seem to protect him from these criticisms.

To that I say, Phil, keep doing what you're doing. It's working.
