FTB: Toronto Maple Leafs and Marlies cruise to victory Saturday night

All rejoice as the Habs winning streak finally comes to an end.

The long nightmare for Leafs fans is finally over. After 14 straight loses to the Habs over nearly four years, the Leafs finally defeated them last night, and they did it in style.

The Toronto Furies held their home opener at the MasterCard Centre last night, unfortunately losing 1-0. They get a chance for a rematch this afternoon.

A disappointing start to the season had some bright spots.

The Marlies won their game against the Providence Bruins 3-2. Goals were scored by Andreas Johnsson, Kasperi Kapanen, and Ben Smith. They have one final game this afternoon against the Thunderbirds, and then head home to wait for next weekend’s games at Ricoh.
