Wednesday’s FTB: What’s next for the Maple Leafs?

A right handed defender? Yet another 4th line centre rental?

We are two days past the Toronto Maple Leafs trading for Jake Muzzin and I bet you were hoping I didn’t mention that. There’s been a lot to read and a lot of talk but now I’m looking towards the future. What is the next big announcement we get from the Maple Leafs?

Will a right handed defender be in the mix? We’ve heard a lot about Alex Pietrangelo being a name connect to the Leafs, but I doubt we’ll get away with a low first and B-level prospects again.

What about the fourth line centre rental? The Maple Leafs have done it the past two years - bringing in Brian Boyle and Tomas Plekanec for the playoffs. Could Frederik Gauthier be on the way out?

Perhaps it could be signing Auston Matthews to a new contract? At 8AM Katya will be looking into comments made the TSN’s Insider Trading last night.

Or it could be another tidbit about Jake Muzzin. Did you know he’ll wear #8? What more could you need to know about him? Well, Katya will tell you at 9AM today.

The Leafs could now be looking towards the future, the 2019 NHL draft. With no first round pick, the Leafs need to find a gem like Sean Durzi in the second round. I say goodbye to him and check out our prospects at 10AM in the Muzzin-delayed prospect report.

I’d keep going on with the shameless self promotion, but I just got a notification. Maybe the Leafs made another trade!

Well, they can’t all be winners. Here’s your news.

Maybe the Leafs can grab some Rangers during the fire sale?

The Leafs have defenders to get rid of, you want to get rid of Dougie Hamilton. It’s win win!

[dies of laughter]

I’m going to assume this is about John Tavares

Finally, the OHL Collective now has a store for shirts and the like. There’s only two options right now but all profits are going to charity for the next couple of weeks.

Enjoy your day!
