Wednesday’s FTB: It’s time to ascend

Full fury! Use the pain of loss! (literally)

The Leafs are still at the top of the North Division and the rest of the league with 24 points in 16 games. That doesn’t change how infuriating that loss to the Ottawa Senators was.

Sheldon Keefe may be encouraging the room to forget about Monday and move forward, but I don’t think that should be the focus. You were up 5-1 and allowed five unanswered goals to the worst team in the league. If there was ever a moment for an embarrassing moment to stick, it’s now.

The Leafs need a game of chaos and destruction. A game where they do not care what the scoreboard says and relentlessly attack. It is now the time to ascend.

John Tavares is better than he has been and needs to be. William Nylander is better than he has been and needs to be. The same goes for Zach Bogosian.

Many will say, “It’s just the Senators, who cares?”

I do.

And to be frank, I don’t give a flying f—k if it’s the 17th game of the season: this is critical.

We’ve always imagined this team igniting in an aura of blue and white. But I’ll be hoping for an aura of yellow and white lightning tonight.
