With the Traverse City Tournament wrapped up with the Leafs going 2-0-2, it’s time for that first milestone of the season: training camp.

The go-to storylines have been talked about so many times we all have them memorized.

What will the power play units look like? Who will replace Zach Hyman? Will Kerfoot play on the wing or centre? Will Nick Robertson make the team out of camp (probably not)? Is Morgan Rielly okay? (That hasn’t been repeated as much, but seriously, is Rielly okay!?).

On the other hand, I have some other areas of focus. Semyon Der-Arguchintsev really impressed me at Traverse City this year. His willingness to shoot has improved, and it’s allowed him to find more opportunities to put up points.

Additionally, SDA’s scoring seems to have improved.

Another player I’ll be focusing on is currently banged up Alex Steeves, who has received a great deal of praise already. The chemistry he and Robertson developed during development camp has been pretty to watch, and it’ll be interesting to see if they can become a dynamic duo in the AHL this season.

What about you? Aside from the main storylines and players, what about training camp interests you?

P.S. Michael Bunting forever.
