Good morning current and / or former Toronto Maple Leafs fans!
Okay, so that's all over. I'm not dwelling on it right now because I'm too busy, numb, avoidant, to bother.
What can we look at right now?
Well, I'm looking at what's going to fill that hockey hole right now. Thankfully there is still one Toronto hockey team giving us hope.
PWHL Toronto are locked into the number one seed for the playoffs and have moved to Coca-Cola Coliseum for the post-season since the Marlies also couldn't be bothered with more than one playoff round.
Well still don't know the opponent, as the PWHL allows the #1 seed to pick their opponent. So it will either be #4 seed Minnesota or #3 seed Boston?
Will they make the obvious choice of the team that fought to the last second to make the playoffs or will they be brave and try to be the team that can actually beat Boston?
Whoever it is, the first game will be on Wednesday night. Grab tickets at 4PM today.
There are prospects in the CHL playoffs as well.
Brandon Lisowsky and Fraser Minten are playing in the WHL Eastern Conference Finals for the Saskatoon Blades and are facing a game seven tomorrow night against the Moose Jaw Warriors.
Easton Cowan and the London Knights have made the OHL Championships after defeating the Memorial Cup host Saginaw Spirit in the Western Conference Final.
That will begin later this week, as North Bay and Oshawa play game seven of the Eastern Conference Finals tonight.
Non-hockey? Well the Blue Jays aren't off to a great start, but it's almost IBL season! If you're not familiar, the Intercounty Baseball League is a 105 year old league that plays in southern Ontario. The Toronto Maple Leafs that play at Christie Pitts are the original Maple Leafs, but just like the hockey team they have an embarrassingly low number of championships for a 100+ year old team (8).
But their games are free! Love a good minor league, or in this case, semi-pro baseball game. The atmosphere is fun, relaxed, and you won't need a second mortgage to enjoy yourself.
I'll be at my local teams game tonight, as the 2023 IBL champions Welland Jackfish host the Quebec Capitals who are the 2023 Frontier League champions.
If you don't want to celebrate anything yet that's fine. Here some things to talk about.
The New York Rangers have taken game one of their second round series against the Hurricanes.
The Golden Knights and Dallas Stars fought it out in their own game seven,
Only one game is happening tonight and I hope a meteor crushes the arena where Boston and Florida are playing.
At the Men's Under-18 World Championship, Canada staged a comeback and defeated the United States.
David Kampf is on his way to the World Championships to play for Czechia.
Alright everyone, enjoy your day?
