Toronto's last game was a shutout loss to Montréal on January 28. They are last in the league by Points % with .354. They are seven points behind the fourth-place New York Sirens, a gap that can be met in the PWHL by winning three times more than the opposition. However, there are three other teams between fourth and last.

Seattle's last game was a 4-2 defeat at the hands of the Ottawa Charge on January 28. Seattle is second last with a Points % of .381. They are eight points behind the Sirens, and have played two fewer games than the Sceptres so are in last place by points.

With a layoff just short of one month, the PWHL is back in action until the last weekend in April. Toronto has 14 games to try to make up that points deficit and secure a playoff spot.

The math on this is not pretty. The Sirens are on pace for 42 points if they play at the same Points % they have now – 0.471. For the Sceptres to hit 43 points by the end of the season, they have to play at a .619 Points % for the 14 remaining games. They need to get 26 points. That's nine wins in 14 games, with enough wiggle room to have one game be an OT or Shootout win. The Sceptres have five wins of any kind so far.

The three-point system makes this possible, maybe even plausible if the team plays like they did last year. The top three teams in the league are all over .619 right now. But expansion has made it much harder with twice the teams fighting to not finish out of the running.

Ditto for Seattle, obviously, as they are in the same leaky boat.

The Sceptres signed Lauren Messier to a 10-day SPC off of their reserve list. She was activated earlier in the season as well and played in two games. Emma Gentry is currently injured.

The Torrent seem ready to go with no changes announced.

Lineups will be available closer to gametime.
