Yesterday, USA Hockey announced their roster for 4 Nations Cup, the international tournament taking place in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan November 6-10. The list includes Markham Thunder defender Megan Bozek.

Bozek will be up against teammates Laura Stacey, Jocelyne Larocque, and Laura Fortino who were announced as part of Canada’s roster earlier this month. It might even be her first chance to square off against Toronto Furies goalie Shea Tiley, since the Thunder don’t face the Furies this season until after the tournament.

Team USA’s roster includes 16 players from the 2018 Olympic gold medal-winning team. Bozek, along with Annie Pankowski, is one of two players on the 4 Nations roster who trained with that team but were cut prior to the Olympics. One surprise cut from this year’s roster is gold medallist goalie Nicole Hensley, who would have been expecting to duel her current partner with the Buffalo Beauts, Shannon Szabados.

This will be Bozek’s seventh appearance at the 4 Nations Cup. In the 2017 tournament she scored one goal and one assist in three games.
She is one of five CWHLers on Team USA’s roster, joining the Montréal Canadiennes’ Hilary Knight, and the Calgary Inferno’s Kacey Bellamy, Brianna Decker and Alex Rigsby. The CWHL’s Canadian teams will not play during the tournament.
USA Hockey has yet to announce any coaches for the tournament. With the exception of the goalie coach, all the coaches who participated in September’s National Team Evaluation Camp were explicitly listed as “Camp Coach”. Director of Women’s Hockey Reagan Carey is serving as the team’s general manager for the 2018-19 year.
Sweden also announced their roster yesterday. The Damkronorna will be without stalwart netminder Sara Grahn for the first time in quite a while, bringing three goalies with very little international experience at the senior level. In all three rosters announced so far, younger players have joined their national teams as preparation for the 2022 Olympics begins.
The medal round of the 4 Nations Cup will be broadcast on TSN.
