Vancouver Canucks @ Toronto Maple Leafs
07:00 PM at Scotiabank Arena
Watch on: SN, CBC
The Leafs last game was away on January 9 against the Carolina Hurricanes, which Toronto lost by a score of 6-3 in regulation. The Leafs have a record of 27-14-2 for a 0.651 Points %.
The Vancouver Canucks last played away on January 10 against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Canucks lost by a score of 2-0 in regulation, and their current league record is 18-13-10 for a 0.561 Points %.
Them
So far this year, Vancouver has been a soap opera. J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson can't get along. The GM is shopping them both, but everyone seems to know he's going to trade the younger, more talented Pettersson.
The team is underperforming and just generally not looking like a serious contender. Which comes as a surprise to people who never wanted to admit they were a bit of a paper tiger last season.
At five-on-five their Corsi and Expected Goals are so bad (low end of the muddy middle) that they are nearly a match for the Leafs. Their pace of Expected Goals on the power play is fairly mediocre, and they outshoot expected by a very small amount.
Once again this year, their strength is that old reliable Shooting %. Nothing can ever go wrong when that's your best event. Both goalies are right on average, so they don't help or harm.
I don't think we're getting any news on Canucks lines until much later today. Thatcher Demko played last night, so we can assume we're getting Kevin Lankinen today.

Us
Every so often, like last game, the Leafs play such a disastrous game defensively that it doesn't matter how much they score.
Max Pacioretty is back in, and Morgan Rielly is back on PP1.
