Toronto's last game was a 5-1 regulation loss to the Frost at home on December 30. Their Points % is now 0.519 and they are third in the standings.

Seattle's last game was a 4-3 regulation loss to the Sirens on December 28. Their Points % is 0.476 and they are fifth in the standings.

This game gives fans a chance to see the newly renovated NHL-size arena in Hamilton, formerly known as Copps Coliseum. And it gives us a look at one of the new expansion teams.

Seattle

One of two new teams, Seattle got some stars in the summer in Team USA veterans Hilary Knight and Alex Carpenter. I consider Carpenter to be one of the best players in women's hockey, but for whatever reason, she just doesn't have that buzz the big names get. Meanwhile, they also got Julia Gosling from the Sceptres, who leads the team in points.

They have good defenders, maybe not stars, but a solid group. Their rookie goalie Hannah Murphy has been outstanding coming off four very good seasons at Colgate. The team has been playing her in a tandem with Corine Schroeder, who is the last-placed goalie in the league.

That said, their problem holding them back is goal scoring.

Toronto

With the Sceptres about to play their 10th game, the glass is half full in most respects. They are in an okay points position, and most of those points come from regulation wins. They've been troubled very little by injury. In the glass half empty department, they have a negative goal differential and they haven't been successful on the power play. Which is just how it goes over nine games and only 22 chances at it.

If they have an issue, it too is goal scoring. Daryl Watts is carrying the offence so far with Jesse Compher (Team USA snub) and Blayre Turnbull backing her up.

But with the length of the season and the points system, all you actually need from your first 10 games is to not be horrible, and even that isn't impossible to overcome.
