Toronto's last game before their break was a 2-1 regulation win over the Charge in the takeover tour game in Calgary. Since then a few things have happened in the PWHL. All three teams at the top have now clinched a playoff spot, leaving the fourth seat open. It's still technically possible for one of Toronto or Ottawa to overtake the Frost for third, but that's so implausible as to be considered out of the question.
Toronto has 34 points and Ottawa, who have played two games in the past 10 days and lost them both, are at 33. Toronto has five games left, Ottawa four.
Meanwhile the Sirens are hanging on with 31 points and five games left, two of them against the Sceptres.
Toronto has to start putting light between themselves and these two teams, and today is a good day for a regulation win.
I haven't seen anything official yet, but Kristin Della Rovere may have been released to play for Italy in the Division 1A tournament in Budapest. The top two teams advance to next season's Women's Worlds.
