Good morning Toronto Maple Leafs fans.

Well, it may be if you were like me and worked all night so you couldn't see yet another Leafs loss. Now, since I didn't see the game should I be assuming it was a bad game and not a well played game that just came one goal shy in a 3-2 loss?

No. I am a sports fan online. It was awful and I know everything that they did wrong despite only seeing this carefully curated game summary:

LAK at TOR | Recap | Toronto Maple Leafs
Game-changing highlights from the matchup between the Los Angeles Kings and the Toronto Maple Leafs

I'm sure with Bedard on the team it may take some of the edge off the loss, but man, it was to Chicago. I just hate losing to them.

It could be worse we could be one of the many teams below us in the standings. Like Buffalo and....

Oh no.

But it's fine! I have plenty of good news to share!

Lethbridge Hurricanes general manager suspended, effective immediately | Globalnews.ca
The announcement of Lethbridge Hurricanes general manager Peter Anholt’s suspension was made in a press release on Friday that was posted to the WHL website.

Okay well it sounds like bad news odd the hop, but he was suspended because:

"The WHL says an investigation found that Anholt breached the league’s Standards of Conduct through the use of intimidating behaviour and language during a post-game address to players in the team dressing room on Oct. 29"

Still not great but!

"the CHL says the incident was brought to its attention through its anonymous 1-800 Respect Line, which provides players, staff and their associates with a confidential way to report concerns or incidents that may violate WHL standards."

So the league is listening to the players and staff, and reacting and investigating to those complaints. Wonderful!

The GM also admitted wrongdoing.

“My behaviour and language in addressing our team did not meet expectations,” Anholt said. “The Lethbridge Hurricanes have always believed in providing a positive environment for our players. “I accept the discipline issued by the WHL and will be committed to a higher standard moving forward.”

Admitting fault, accepting the punishment, and acting quickly. While a far cry from the past of "suck it up, kid" it's just a small step for accountability in high level sports.

While we're in the junior hockey realm, the Sarnia Sting of the OHL have moved on from their head coach of four years.

Sarnia Sting fire head coach Alan Letang
Alan Letang is out as the Sarnia Sting’s head coach after four-plus seasons with the team.

The Sting have had an average time since they moved to Sarnia, but under Letang they had their best post-season success ever: They finally made the Western Conference Finals! It's good to know there's a Western Conference version of the Kingston Frontenacs.

More good news: The Leafs can't trade their way out of this because they don't have a lot of futures and plenty of trade clauses around!

Maple Leafs not interested in dealing futures, core players safe
The Toronto Maple Leafs could look to shake things up to escape their early-season woes, but don’t count on them selling the farm to do so.

David Kampf is back in the NHL after a brief stint...not. He'll be playing for the Vancouver Canucks the rest of this season after signing a show me deal that will keep him on scouting radars for next season and the Olympics.

Canucks sign forward David Kampf to one-year deal worth US$1.1 million
David Kampf has found a new home. The Vancouver Canucks signed the 30-year-old Czech centre to a one-year contract worth US$1.1 million, the team announced Saturday. The deal comes after Kampf was placed on “unconditional waivers for the pu…

Another suspension sees Brampton Steelheads defender Luke Dragusica for as two handed slash to an opponents head:

OHL Suspends Brampton’s Dragusica for Head Chop
The Ontario Hockey League has suspended Brampton Steelheads defenseman Luke Dragusica indefinitely for a two-handed slash to the head of Oshawa’s Brady Blaseg.

And let's end on a good note, former Maple Leafs captain Mats Sundin has been named the recipient of the ‘Börje Salming Courage Award" for 2025.
