Last weekend saw the NCAA conferences wrap up their playoffs and crown their champions. It also let the NCAA set their hockey playoff bracket, which features two Maple Leafs prospects. The Frozen Four is in a few weeks in Buffalo, and it would be great for curious Leafs fans to get to see Dakota Joshua and Ryan O’Connell in person close to home.

Sportsnet has added several CHL games to the 360 schedule. Three in a row from the OHL this week:

Ottawa 67’s at Hamilton Bulldogs @ 7PM on Wed. March 27th
Guelph Storm @ Kitchener Rangers @ 7PM on Thurs. March 28th
North Bay Battalion @ Niagara IceDogs @ 7PM on Fri. March 29th

There is a 10PM slot for a WHL game set up for April 3rd, but no teams have been announced yet.

*All game times listed are Eastern time.

Game 2 - Win - 6-3 - 0G, 1A, +1
Game 3 - Win - 5-2 - No Points

Game 7 - Home: Tues. April 2nd @ 7:07PM

All games can be streamed via potato-cam at OHL Live, and can be seen on local public access TV.

The Greyhounds were shocked in their series opener when the Owen Sound Attack took a 2-1 lead in the first period and fought hard for the win in overtime. Game two and three saw the Greyhounds win with ease, giving the impression things will wrap up on Friday night.

#29 - Fedor Gordeev (D)
Guelph Storm

Round 1: vs #5 Kitchener Rangers
Game 1 - Win - 4-2 - 0G, 0A, -1
Game 2 - Win - 7-0 - 1G, 0A, +3
Game 3 - Away: Tues. March 26th @ 7:00PM
Game 4 - Away: Thurs. March 28th @ 7:00PM
Game 5 - Home: Fri. March 29th @ 7:30PM
Game 6 - Away: Sun. March 31st @ 6:00PM
Game 7 - Home: Tues. April 2nd @ 7:00PM

All games can be streamed via potato-cam at OHL Live, and can be seen on local public access TV.

The Guelph Storm has easily taken a two game lead over the Kitchener Rangers. A sweep is possible, but the series now moves to Kitchener and the 7,100 seat Memorial Auditorium. One of the oldest, biggest rinks in the OHL will be filled with Rangers fans and the atmosphere could give the Rangers a boost to try and get a win before the week is over.

#19 - Semyon Der-Arguchintsev (C)
Peterborough Petes

Round 1: vs #3 Oshawa Generals
Game 1 - Loss - 7-0 - 0G, 0A, -2
Game 2 - Loss - 8-2 - 0G, 2A, -3
Game 3 - Home: Tues. March 26th @ 7:05PM
Game 4 - Home: Thurs. March 28th @ 7:05PM
Game 5 - Away: Sat. March 30th @ 7:05PM
Game 6 - Home: Sun March 31st @ 7:05PM
Game 7 - Away: Tues. April 2nd @ 7:05PM

All games can be streamed via potato-cam at OHL Live, and can be seen on local public access TV.

Despite setting up two goals in game two, SDA and the Petes find them selves with a -13 goal differential. The series returns to the Peterborough Memorial Centre tonight, but there isn’t much hope for the Petes to stand up to the Generals in this series.

#19 - Ryan McGregor (F)
Sarnia Sting

Round one: vs #1 Saginaw Spirit
Game 1 - Loss - 6-3 - 0G, 0A, -3
Game 2 - Loss - 5-3 - No Points
Game 3 - Home: Tues. March 26th @ 7:05PM
Game 4 - Home: Thurs. March 28th @ 7:05PM
Game 5 - Away: Sat. March 30th @ 7:05PM
Game 6 - Home: Sun March 31st @ 4:05PM
Game 7 - Away: Tues April 2nd @ 7:05PM

All games can be streamed via potato-cam at OHL Live, and can be seen on local public access TV.

Like the Petes, the Sting aren’t showing a lot of fight against their opponent. The series moves back to our side of the border tonight, but that’s the most optimistic thing about it. The Sting will put up a fight at home, but will most likely end up playing their final game in front of their own fans on Thursday.

Western Hockey League

#18 - Riley Stotts (C)
Calgary Hitmen

Round one: vs #2 Lethbridge Hurricanes
Game 1 - Loss - 3-2 Overtime - 0G, 0A, +1
Game 2 - Loss - 4-1 - No Points
Game 3 - Home: Tues. March 26th @ 9:00PM
Game 4 - Home: Thurs. March 28th @ 9:00PM
Game 5 - Away: Sat. March 30th @ 9:00PM
Game 6 - Home: Sun. March 31st @ 6:00PM
Game 7 - Away: Tues. April 2nd @ 9:00PM

The Hitmen put some fear into the hearts of the Hurricanes in game one, but couldn’t close out the win. Lethbridge didn’t give Calgary a chance in game two and jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period.

Calgary fans are all hyped up for the Flames playoff run and hopefully they bring some of that passion out to the Saddledome for the Hitmen tonight.

#18 - Filip Kral (D)
Spokane Chiefs

Round one: vs #3 Portland Winterhawks
Game 1 - Win - 5-2 - 0G, 0A, +1
Game 2 - Loss - 5-3 - 0G, 0A, -1
Game 3 - Home: Tues. March 26th @ 10:00PM
Game 4 - Home: Wed. March 27th @ 10:00PM
Game 5 - Away: Sat. March 30th @ 10:05PM
Game 6 - Home: Mon. April 1st @ 10:00PM
Game 7 - Away: Wed, April 3rd @ 10:05PM

All games can be streamed via potato-cam at WHL Live.

It’s no surprise that this series is tied after the first two games, and by similar scores for each win. The next two games are back to back tonight and tomorrow, then a large rest until game five. With the schedule the way it is, I can’t see it ending before seven games.

#33 - Ian Scott (G)
Prince Albert Raiders

All games can be streamed via potato-cam at WHL Live.

Round one: vs WC#2 Red Deer Rebels
Game 1 - W 3-0 - 21sv, 21sh, 1.000sv%
Game 2 - W 6-4 - 19sv, 23sh, .826sv%
Game 3 - Away - Tues. March 26th @ 9:00PM
Game 4 - Away - Wed. March 27th @ 9:00PM
Game 5 - Home - Fri. March 29th @ 9:00PM
Game 6 - Away - Sun. March 31st @ 4:00PM
Game 7 - Home - Tues. April 2nd @ 9:00PM

A shutout and a ten goal game, but both were wins for the Raiders. Game two wasn’t a great game for Scott, but it’s looking like a should be sweep for Prince Albert. Two back to back games in Alberta shouldn’t get in anyone’s way and a long rest is in their future.

USHL

#14 - JD Greenway (D)
Dubuque Fighting Saints

The Fighting Saints won’t begin their playoffs until April, and they have fallen down to sixth place in the Eastern Conference. Only the top six teams in each conference make the playoffs, and the Fighting Saints are just waiting to officially clinch their playoff spot as they’re now nine points ahead of the Central Illinois Flying Aces.

NCAA

Fri. March 29th vs Denver - 4:00PM
Sat. March 30th vs St. Cloud State/American International

The Buckeyes head to Fargo North Dakota this weekend for the West Regional games. Their first game is against the Denver Pioneers on Friday afternoon,

If the Buckeyes win, they’ll take on either St. Cloud State or American International in the final, with a trip to Buffalo for the Frozen Four on the line.
