Toronto Maple Leafs prospect report: Hollowell’s hat trick, Woll for Hobey Baker

Mac’s first ever hat trick came at the perfect time.

Hello Maple Leafs fans!

Mac Hollowell made us all forgot about Sean Durzi last night when he single-handidly gave the Greyhounds a win over the Oshawa Generals by scoring three straight goals to come back from a 2-0 deficit.

He’s the top scorer for Leafs prospects in North America, and is helping the Soo sneakily be one of the best teams in the league.

Also of note, fan voting for the NCAA Hobey Baker award is open and our own Joseph Woll is the Boston College nominee this year. While the Eagles aren’t the best, doesn’t Woll deserve your vote?

He does, so go do it.

Ontario Hockey League

#11 - Mac Hollowell (D) - 3G, 1A, -2
Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds - 33-11-5-1 - 2nd in Western Conference

Jan. 31st: @ Niagara IceDogs
L 6-1 - 0G, 0A, -3
Feb. 1st: @ Erie Otters
W 4-1 - 0G, 1A
Feb. 3rd: @ Oshawa Generals
W 3-2 OT - 3G, 0A, +1

Hollowell won the game against Oshawa all by himself, as he scored a natural hat trick to bring the Greyhounds back from a 2-0 deficit to an overtime win.

#29 - Fedor Gordeev (D) - 0G, 0A, +4
Guelph Storm - 27-13-6-4 - 4th in the Western Conference

Jan. 30th: vs Saginaw Spirit
W 8-2 - 0G, 0A, +1
Feb 1st: @ Ottawa 67’s
L 4-3 OT - 0G, 0A, +1
Feb. 2nd: @ Kingston Frontenacs
W 8-1 - 0G, 0A, +2

Gordeev was solid defensively for the Storm this weekend as they had two huge wins and one close loss to the best ream in the OHL.

#19 - Semyon Der-Arguchintsev (C) - 1G, 0A, -2
Peterborough Petes - 24-24-1-1 - 6th in Eastern Conference

Jan. 30th: vs Hamilton Bulldogs
W 6-3 - 0G, 0A, -1
Jan. 31st: @ Oshawa Generals
L 12-6 - 1G, 0A
Feb. 2nd: vs Oshawa Generals
L 6-3 - 0G, 0A, -1

The Petes were riding high after a big win over the Bulldogs, but were then pounded so deep into the earth by the Generals over the weekend that they’re now an AIHL team.

#19 - Ryan McGregor (F) - 1G, 4A, +3
Sarnia Sting - 22-23-5-2 - 6th in Western Conference

Jan. 31st: @ Barrie Colts
W 7-2 - 0G, 1A, +1
Feb. 2nd: @ Sudbury Wolves
L 4-3 - 1G, 1A, +1
Feb. 3rd: @ North Bay Battalion
W 5-4 OT - 0G, 2A, +1

McGregor has a great week personally, netting five points on a northern road trip for the Sting.

Western Hockey League

#18 - Riley Stotts (C) - 0G, 3A, +3
Calgary Hitmen - 26-19-4-1 - 2nd Western Wild Card

Jan. 30th: @ Swift Current Broncos
W 6-2 - 0G, 2A, +3
Feb. 1st: vs Brandon Wheat Kings
W 6-5 OT - 0G, 1A, -1
Feb. 3rd: @ Red Deer Rebels
W 5-1 - 0G, 1A, +1

Stotts and the Hitmen had a great week, three high scoring wins, and closer to securing a playoff spot.

#18 - Filip Kral (D) - 1G, 3A, +5
Spokane Chiefs - 26-17-2-4 - 3rd in US Division

Jan. 30th: vs Portland Winterhawks
W 7-2 - No Points
Feb. 1st: vs Kelowna Rockets
W 4-0 - 0G, 1A, +3
Feb. 3rd: @ Portland Winterhawks
L 6-5 SO - 1G, 2A, +2

Kral had a great game against the Winterhawks, but the team couldn’t build off that for a win. Overall last week Kral did well with four points on the back end.

#33 - Ian Scott (G) - 50sv, 58sh, 0.862sv%
Prince Albert Raiders - 42-7-0-2 - 1st in East Division

Feb 1st: vs Edmonton Oil Kings
L 6-3 - 22sv, 27sh, 0.815sv%
Feb. 2nd: vs Moose Jaw Warriors
W 4-3 - 28sv, 31sh, 0.903sv%

Ian, what happened? It seems that the Raiders are paying for having such a great start to the season, but catching up on losses and close games. Get them out of the way now, Raiders. The playoffs are coming.

Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

#33 - Zachary Bouthillier (G) - 27sv, 31sv, 0.871sv%
Saint John Sea Dogs - 11-36-2-2 - 9th in Eastern Conference

Jan. 31st: @ Shawinigan Cataractes
L 5-4 SO - 3sv, 6sh, 0.500sv% - pulled after 9:36

L 1-0 - 24sv, 25sh, 0.960sv%
Feb. 2nd: @ Blainsville-Boisbriand Armada
L 5-1 - Did Not Play

After a terrible outing in Shawinigan, Bouthillier bounced back with a great showing against the Remparts. It’s hard to really judge how he’s doing with the Sea Dogs being....awful.

USHL

#14 - JD Greenway (D) - 0G, 0A, -3
Dubuque Fighting Saints

Feb. 1st: @ Cedar Rapids RoughRiders
L 2-0 - 0G, 0A, -1

A rough weekend for the Saints and our boy JD.

Boston College Eagles
Overall: 9-12-1 / Conference: 9-4-3

Feb 1st: @ U. Connecticut
W 5-3 - 24sv, 27sh, 0.889sv%

Remember to vote for Woll for the Hobey Baker. He deserves it because he’s a Leafs prospect.

#8 - Dakota Joshua (F) / Ryan O’Connell (D)
Ohio State Buckeyes
Overall: 17-5-4 / Conference: 10-3-3

Feb. 1st: vs Notre Dame
W 4-2 - 0G, 0A, +1 / Did Not Play
Feb. 2nd: vs Notre Dame
W 2-0 - 0G, 1A, +1 / 0G, 0A, +1

O’Connel only got into one game, but he was around for a goal so that’s nice.
