On the day before the trade deadline several teams waived players they either are about to send back to the minors, or in Melchiori’s case, just signed to NHL deals, and have to waive to leave in the AHL.

It’s possible the Leafs, now that they’ve seen Denis Malgin, have decided Timashov can return to the AHL to play, and that’s all they’re doing. They may feel it’s unlikely he gets claimed in this crowd. Agozzino is likely better.

Timashov has played in only 39 games this season at extremely low minutes, and he has nine points.

We’ll know his fate tomorrow at noon, but if he does clear, he becomes eligible to play for the Marlies in their playoffs if they manage to get to the playoffs, that is.
