Years ago, I stole an idea from another SBNation site and starting doing "Who has played their last game as a Maple Leaf" articles. This year? Who knows. Seriously, I can't guess on almost anyone. So in the spirit of just waiting until the future arrives in its own time, this is where they are at right now, beginning with the players who spoke at locker cleanout where some discussed their state of health.

Auston Matthews - just got off his crutches, and will rehab this offseason. Timelines for injuries are guesses, and we aren't guessing today. He's under contract for two more years, has a full NMC, and will be discussing his future with whoever is hired to run the team.

William Nylander - Seems healthy, but hasn't said anything about playing at Worlds. Is under contract for four more years with a full NMC, and has said he's up for a retool, but not a full teardown.

Matthew Knies - Would not disclose the nature of his injury that he had all year, but says the impact was overblown by people. Expects to train after some rest. He is under contract for five more years with no trade protection until the final year.

John Tavares - played every game, is healthy, is going to play at Worlds. He is under contract for three more years with a full NMC for next year and trad protection in the final two.

Morgan Rielly - is healthy, would like to play at Worlds, is under contract for four more years with an NMC.

Chris Tanev - is still rehabbing from surgery, but expects to be ready for next season. Is under contract for four more year with a full NMC.

Anthony Stolarz - does not need surgery for a groin strain. Is under contract for four more years with varying trade protection over each season.

Joe Woll - Healthy, is under contract for two years with some trade protection in the final year only.

Jake McCabe - Is healthy as far as we know, and is under contract for four years with some kind of trade protection each season.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson - Has been intermittently mildly injured this season, but appears healthy right now. Is under contract for two more years with some trade protection.

Brandon Carlo - Missed the final few games with an undisclosed lower body injury. Is under contract for one more season with a three team no-trade list. That list is currently at eight teams, and likely changes over on July 1.

Max Domi - Played down the stretch with no sign of injury. He is under contract for two more years with a 13 team no-trade list.

Matias Maccelli - Is an RFA with a QO of $4.11 million and arbitration rights.

Dakota Joshua - Is injured but not serious enough for surgery and is under contract for two more years with an unchanging 12 team no-trade list.

Calle Järnkrok - UFA

Nick Robertson - RFA with a QO of $1.825 million and arbitration rights.

Steven Lorentz - Under contract for two years with no trade protection.

Jacob Quillan - RFA with a QO of $826,875 and arbitration rights. He has 23 NHL games played for any sort of argument in arbitration.

Easton Cowan - Has two more years on his ELC, is healthy and has been loaned to the Marlies for the playoffs.

Simon Benoit - Healthy, is under contract for one more year with no trade protection.

Phil Myers - Healthy, is under contract for one more year with no trade protection.

Troy Stecher - UFA

Dennis Hildeby - Healthy, will return to the Marlies and is under contract for two more years.

There are a host of expiring RFAs on the Marlies as well as some UFAs, but that is an issue we can delve into later in the offseason when the signing and QO deadlines are approaching.
