There are new names on the Top 25 Under 25 eligibility list this year. Not all of them fresh new prospects. From the oldest on down:

Matias Maccelli

Acquired in trade this summer, Maccelli is three and a half months away from being too old for the list. He has the most NHL games played with 224, and it at the point in his pro career where he should be solidifying a role on a team.

Maple Leafs trade for Utah’s Matias Maccelli
Conditional third-rounder.

Henry Thrun

Also acquired in trade this summer, Thrun is closer to a year away from aging out. He has 119 NHL games played, and has not quite grabbed a full-time roster spot. He might do that on the Leafs, but it's far from a sure thing.

Leafs trade Ryan Reaves to San Jose
Defender Henry Thrun comes back.

John Prokop

Signed to an NHL contract in the spring out of college, Prokop is likely to play in the AHL. He is also a year away from ageing out.

Toronto to sign John Prokop
The NCAA defenceman will be on an ELC.

Luke Haymes

The forward version of Prokop, Haymes is expected to be in the AHL as well. He is also younger at just 22 this summer.

Maple Leafs Sign Luke Haymes
Toronto has signed one of the top NCAA free agents to a two-year contract.

Borya Valis

Only 21, Valis was signed out of the WHL in the spring. He'll be heading to the Marlies.

Getting to Know Borya Valis
Let’s all get to know Toronto’s newest prospect, his strengths as a power forward with strong off-puck play and what his development path needs to be for him to make the NHL.

Blake Smith

Smith, a defender, turns 21 later this year, and he was signed from the OHL in the spring and will head to the Marlies.

Maple Leafs Sign Blake Smith to ELC
Toronto has signed another undrafted prospect to an ELC, and as you may have assumed he is indeed a giant tree of a man.

Mathew Hlacar

The oldest player drafted this year, he is 19 and will likely return to the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL although that is not confirmed. He is not AHL-eligible until 2026-2027.

With Pick #217, the Leafs drafted Matthew Hlacar
With their final pick in the 2025 draft, the Toronto Maple Leafs took a swing on Matthew Hlacar from the Kitchener Rangers.

William Belle

Belle is a long term project who is just about to start his NCAA career at age 18.

Getting to Know William Belle
Belle fits the theme that Toronto seemed to be going for in this year’s draft when it comes to his size and his strength as a player, but there’s a reason he was a fifth rounder.

Tyler Hopkins

Hopkins has two years with the Kingston Frontenacs, and will likely return.

Getting to Know Tyler Hopkins
Hopkins was typically ranked a good chunk higher than where Toronto drafted him, making him a potential steal in the late third round.

Rylan Fellinger

Fellinger is with the Flint Firebirds.

Getting to Know Rylan Fellinger
Toronto’s selection of Fellinger follows a trend they started last year in taking relatively unknown defense prospects late in the draft, but who have size and skating.

Tinus Luc Koblar

Not yet 18, TLK will return to his team in Sweden and likely stay at the junior level.

Getting to Know Tinus Luc Koblar
The Slovenian-born, Norwegian-raised giant playing in Sweden was a surprise pick, but could wind up being a pleasant surprise gem.

Harry Nansi

Also just 17, Nansi will be playing his third season in the OHL.

Getting to Know Harry Nansi
The Maple Leafs have drafted a new baby giraffe.

That's the full list of new faces.
