Minnesota finished the regular season with an absolute thumping of Boston to take a playoff spot and push Boston out. While the defending Cup winners looked tough to play at times, they struggled to turn league-leading goals scoring and average goal prevention into points. Both Nicole Hensley and Maddie Rooney had poor results in net which was their main weakness all season.

Toronto finished the regular season with a loss to Ottawa, the game that got the Charge into the playoffs, after a strong second half. Kristen Campbell had a good season, sitting fifth in Save %. The Sceptres had a goal differential of zero, and a Points % of .533, and are one of three teams to finish with 12 regulation wins. Minnesota had 10. The P in PWHL stood for parity this season.

Minnesota knocked the Sceptres out in the semifinals (aka the first round) last year, so this is a grudge match in only the second year of the league.

Beating the Frost is a matter of containing their three big offensive threats: Kendall Coyne-Schofield, Taylor Heise and Sophi Jaques. Toronto also needs to win the battles of the lower lines, but that top six is very dangerous.
