We’re down to four prospects still playing games; one in the OHL, two in the WHL, and one in the USHL. The college kids are all done,  and Riley Stotts and Mac Hollowell were eliminated from the playoffs. It’s coming down to the wire, but we have a chance for a prospect vs prospect WHL final.

in the OHL, Fedor Gordeev and the Guelph Storm rallied from being down 0-3 and 3-1 in game seven in their second round series and, with the power of 19 OHL fan bases behind them last night, won the series with four straight games and will face the Saginaw Spirit in the Western Conference Final.

Ontario Hockey League
#11 - Mac Hollowell (D)
Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds

Eliminated in round two by the Saginaw Spirit
Game 1 - Loss - 4-1 - 0G, 1A, -1
Game 2 - Loss - 10-1 - 1G, 0A, -4
Game 3 - Loss - 7-5 - 0G, 2A

Game 5 - Win - 6-2 - 0G, 2A
Game 6 - Loss - 5-0 - 0G, 0A, -4

Last year’s OHL runners-up fall in the second round of the playoffs, and Mac Hollowell’s junior career ends with it. Hollowell ends his season with 77 points in 64 games in the regular season and 11 points in 11 playoff games.

There’s no word yet if Hollowell will join the Marlies on an ATO, and he wasn’t on the Growlers playoff roster so he can’t go out east.

#29 - Fedor Gordeev (D)
Guelph Storm

What a comeback by the Storm. Losing three straight and giving up 17 goals in those games didn’t put them in a losing mindframe. They’ll now face the Saginaw Spirit in the Western Conference Final.

Game 4 - Loss - 6-0 - 0G, 0A, -3

Riley Stotts’ season ends with a sweep from the Edmonton Oil Kings. After missing the playoffs last year, a two-round run is good, but he’ll be looking to make it to the Conference Finals for the first time in his career next season.

Defeat Everett Silvertips 4-1 in the second round
Game 1 - Win - 6-3 - 0G, 0A, -1

The Chiefs are in the Western Conference Final for the first time since 2011, and are looking for their first WHL Championship / Memorial Cup since 2008. The Vancouver Giants are their opponent and finished second overall in the league, 14 points ahead of the Chiefs. It’s going to be a tough series, but the Chiefs took down the Silvertips easily and they were only two points behind the Giants.
