The bad guys lost, and we thank you.

We’re down to four prospects still playing games; one in the OHL, two in the WHL, and one in the USHL. The college kids are all done, and Riley Stotts and Mac Hollowell were eliminated from the playoffs. It’s coming down to the wire, but we have a chance for a prospect vs prospect WHL final.

in the OHL, Fedor Gordeev and the Guelph Storm rallied from being down 0-3 and 3-1 in game seven in their second round series and, with the power of 19 OHL fan bases behind them last night, won the series with four straight games and will face the Saginaw Spirit in the Western Conference Final.

Ontario Hockey League

#11 - Mac Hollowell (D)
Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds

Eliminated in round two by the Saginaw Spirit
Game 1 - Loss - 4-1 - 0G, 1A, -1
Game 2 - Loss - 10-1 - 1G, 0A, -4
Game 3 - Loss - 7-5 - 0G, 2A
Game 4 - Win - 3-0 - 0G, 1A, +1
Game 5 - Win - 6-2 - 0G, 2A
Game 6 - Loss - 5-0 - 0G, 0A, -4

Last year’s OHL runners-up fall in the second round of the playoffs, and Mac Hollowell’s junior career ends with it. Hollowell ends his season with 77 points in 64 games in the regular season and 11 points in 11 playoff games.

There’s no word yet if Hollowell will join the Marlies on an ATO, and he wasn’t on the Growlers playoff roster so he can’t go out east.

#29 - Fedor Gordeev (D)
Guelph Storm

Round two vs London Knights
Game 1 - Loss - 3-2 - No Points
Game 2 - Loss - 7-0 - 0G, 0A, -2
Game 3 - Loss - 7-4 - No Points
Game 4 - Win - 4-3 - No Points
Game 5 - Win - 3-1 - No Points
Game 6 - Win - 5-3 - 0G, 0A, -1
Game 7 - Win - 6-3 - 0G, 0A, -1

What a comeback by the Storm. Losing three straight and giving up 17 goals in those games didn’t put them in a losing mindframe. They’ll now face the Saginaw Spirit in the Western Conference Final.

Game 1 - Away - Thurs. April 18th
Game 2 - Away - Sat. April 20th
Game 3 - Home - Mon. April 22nd
Game 4 - Home - Wed. April 24th
Game 5 - Away - Fri. April 26th

Game 7 - Away - Mon. April 29th

Western Hockey League

#18 - Riley Stotts (C)
Calgary Hitmen

Round two vs Edmonton Oil Kings
Game 1 - Loss - 3-2 OT - 0G, 1A, -1
Game 2 - Loss - 4-1 - 0G, 0A, -2
Game 3 - Loss - 2-1 OT - 0G, 0A, -1
Game 4 - Loss - 6-0 - 0G, 0A, -3

Riley Stotts’ season ends with a sweep from the Edmonton Oil Kings. After missing the playoffs last year, a two-round run is good, but he’ll be looking to make it to the Conference Finals for the first time in his career next season.

#18 - Filip Kral (D)
Spokane Chiefs

Defeat Everett Silvertips 4-1 in the second round
Game 1 - Win - 6-3 - 0G, 0A, -1
Game 2 - Win - 3-1 - No Points
Game 3 - Win - 3-1 - 0G, 1A
Game 4 - Loss - 4-1 - No Points
Game 5 - Win - 2-1 - Did Not Play

The Chiefs are in the Western Conference Final for the first time since 2011, and are looking for their first WHL Championship / Memorial Cup since 2008. The Vancouver Giants are their opponent and finished second overall in the league, 14 points ahead of the Chiefs. It’s going to be a tough series, but the Chiefs took down the Silvertips easily and they were only two points behind the Giants.

Western Conference Final vs Vancouver Giants
Game 1 - Away - Fri. April 19th
Game 2 - Away - Sat. April 20th
Game 3 - Home - Tues. April 23rd
Game 4 - Home - Wed. April 24th
Game 5 - Away - Fri. April 26th
Game 6 - Home - Mon. April 29th
Game 7 - Away - Tues. April 30th

#33 - Ian Scott (G)
Prince Albert Raiders

Win round two vs Saskatoon Blades in six games
Game 1 - Win - 6-1 - 23sv, 24sh, .958sv%
Game 2 - Win - 3-2 - 24sv, 26sh, .923sv%
Game 3 - Loss - 1-0 - 26sv, 27sh, .923sv%

Game 5 - Win - 6-1 - 26sv, 27sh, .923sv%
Game 6 - Win - 6-3 - 19sv, 22sh, .864sv%

The Raiders are playing in their first Eastern Conference Final since 1999, and want to win their first WHL title and Memorial Cup since 1985. This has been an amazing season for Prince Albert, and no one wants to see it slow down now, except maybe their opponents in Edmonton.

Eastern Conference Finals vs Edmonton Oil Kings
Game 1 - Home - Fri. April 19
Game 2 - Home - Sat. April 20
Game 3 - Away - Tues. April 23
Game 4 - Away - Wed. April 24th

USHL

#14 - JD Greenway (D)
Dubuque Fighting Saints

The Saints made the USHL playoffs and won a best of three series against the Youngstown Phantoms in round one. As the lowest seed in the conference, they’ll play #1 seed Muskegon Lumberjacks in round two.

Win round one vs Youngstown Phantoms 2-0.

Game 1 - Win - 3-1 - 0G, 0A, +1
Game 2 - Win - 3-2 - No Points

#33 - Zachary Bouthillier (G) - Saint John Sea Dogs, QMJHL

He’s left school and signed a contract to start next season.

#19 - Semyon Der-Arguchintsev (C) - Peterborough Petes, OHL

He joined the Marlies, but was sent down to the ECHL Newfoundland Growlers, where they’re playing the Brampton Beast in the first round of the ECHL playoffs.

#19 - Ryan McGregor (F) - Sarnia Sting, OHL

McGregor is now with the Toronto Marlies.

#8 - Dakota Joshua (F) / Ryan O’Connell (D) - Ohio State Buckeyes, NCAA
