With the 2018 CWHL Draft just two days away, the Toronto Furies announced Robert Morris University forward Brittany Howard as their final pre-signing of the offseason.

Howard put up impressive numbers in her NCAA career, scoring 79 goals and 102 assists for a total of 181 points in 138 games. This was despite knee surgery in her sophomore year that saw her redshirt the season after playing just two games. She became Robert Morris University’s all-time points leader on October 8th of last year, and then spent the bulk of her senior season ensuring that her record would stand for a good long while. Howard’s a smaller forward—listed at 5’4’’—but she’s known for a physical edge to her play, something that will translate well to the CWHL, which has looser standards for body contact than the NCAA.

The St Thomas native has a connection to the Toronto Maple Leafs — she trains with their skill development consultant, Mike Ellis, in the offseason.

Howard was also present at Hockey Canada’s development camp this summer, where she spent the better part of the tournament scoring at will.

With the signings of Shiann Darkangelo, Sarah Nurse, and now Howard, Toronto is beefing up its forward corps an exciting degree.

This wraps up our pre-draft coverage — the draft goes live at 3:00 pm this Sunday at the Mastercard Centre and we’ll be there to tell you who lands where and why you should be excited about this latest batch of prospects!
